TE Connectivity's String Potentiometers, also known as cable-actuated position sensors, offer a reliable and cost-effective solution for precise linear position measurement across a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. These sensors convert linear motion into an electrical signal using a durable retractable cable mechanism, ideal for environments where traditional linear sensors may be impractical. Designed for versatility, TE’s string potentiometers are available in various configurations to support different stroke lengths, mounting styles, and output options. These devices are easy to install and integrate, with compact form factors and rugged construction that withstand harsh conditions, including dust, moisture, and vibration.

SM2-25 String Pot

TE Connectivity's (TE) Measurement Specialties SM2-25 String Pot is a cable-actuated position sensor. This miniature string potentiometer detects and measures linear position and velocity using flexible cable and a spring-loaded spool. This compact String Pot comes with rugged polycarbonate enclosure and 40" electrical cable for easy signal connection. The full stroke measurement ranges from 2.5" to 25" with 0.25% to 1% FS accuracy. TE's SM2-25 string pot provides a voltage divider output signal and operates in a temperature range of 0°F to +160°F. Other features include free release tolerance, 10KΩ input resistance, and an IP50 environmental rating.
