ams OSRAM TCS3430 Evaluation Kit

ams OSRAM TCS3430 Evaluation Kit is designed to evaluate the TCS3430 proximity sensor module. This kit comprises the Main Controller Board with a PIC Microcontroller, an industry-standard USB 2.0 interface (with a USB cable), and a TCS3430 Module Daughter Board. The ams OSRAM TCS3430 Evaluation Kit includes "plug-n-play" USB HID class drivers, software documentation, and GUI (Graphic User Interface) software. This software allows users to control the proximity sensor settings as the PIC takes the TCS3430 I2C digital outputs to calculate illuminance in lux and color temperature.

The TCS3430 Daughter Board features advanced digital Ambient Light Sensing (ALS) and CIE 1931 tristimulus color sensing (XYZ). Each channel features a filter to control its optical response, allowing the device to accurately measure ambient light and sense color. These measurements are used to calculate chromaticity, illuminance, and color temperature to support various potential applications. The TCS3430 is ideally suited for smartphone applications to improve color measurement and intensity of ambient light conditions. The sensor can also assist the smartphone camera sensor with color sensing of ambient light to enhance and improve picture white balance to deliver more realistic and vibrant images. Typical applications include display brightness and color control for power management, the optimum viewing experience, improved white balance, and camera image correction.
