Infineon Technologies EU Cyber Resilience Act & RED Solutions

Infineon Technologies is committed to enabling security for the IoT and to help simplify customers' cybersecurity compliance journey. Infineon is dedicated to supporting manufacturers in meeting the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) with a comprehensive portfolio of security solutions. By leveraging Infineon's security expertise, manufacturers can safeguard devices against cybersecurity risks, facilitate compliance with the EU CRA and RED, and reduce the risk of non-compliance penalties.

EU CRA - Complete security across hardware, firmware, software, and the entire product lifecycle
The European Union's Cyber Resilience Act (EU CRA) is a groundbreaking regulation designed to enhance the security of connected devices across the EU single market. Enacted to counter the growing threat of cyber-attacks, the EU CRA sets forth essential cybersecurity requirements for all products with digital elements, ensuring that security is integrated into the design and development phase.

By enforcing robust security standards, the EU CRA encourages a culture of cybersecurity, promotes responsible innovation, and enables a secure digital environment for businesses and individuals alike. As the EU CRA comes into effect in 2027, manufacturers must comply with its provisions, ensuring that products meet the highest security standards and contribute to a more resilient digital ecosystem.

In December 2027, full compliance will be enforced on all products and processes.

RED - Radio performance, EMC, and cybersecurity for radio communication

The Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED) is a regulatory framework that sets essential requirements for the safety, health, and electromagnetic compatibility of radio equipment placed on the EU market. RED aims to ensure that all devices that use radio waves (phones, Wi-Fi routers, BLUETOOTH® speakers) are safe, work properly, and do not interfere with other devices. All radio equipment within the scope of RED, as delegated in articles 3.3 (d), (e), and (f), must comply with the new cybersecurity essential requirements when placed on the EU single market.

What RED mandates:
•  Efficient use of radio equipment
•  Prevention of harmful interference
•  Meeting safety and health requirements
•  Meeting cybersecurity requirements (as of August 2025)
