Macronix MX66L1G45G CMOS MXSMIO® Flash Memory

Macronix MX66L1G45G CMOS MXSMIO® (Serial Multi-I/O) Flash Memory are 1‑Gbit Serial NOR Flash memory devices featuring MXSMIO (Serial Multi‑I/O) technology. Internally, the Macronix MX66L1G45G is organized as 134,217,728 × 8-bits in single-I/O mode, while dual‑ and quad‑I/O modes reconfigure the memory to 536,870,912 × 2-bits and 268,435,456 × 4-bits, respectively. In single-I/O mode, the device operates over a simple three‑wire serial interface consisting of SCLK, SI, and SO, with CS# used to enable access.

In dual‑ and quad‑I/O read modes, the interface pins are reassigned to support multi‑bit address, dummy, and data transfers. Dual‑I/O mode uses SIO0 and SIO1, while quad‑I/O mode employs SIO0–SIO3, mapped from the SI, SO, WP#, and NC pins. The MXSMIO architecture enables fast sequential read operations across the entire memory array, improving overall read performance.

The Macronix MX66L1G45G supports flexible program and erase operations, including byte, word, and 256‑byte page programming. Erase sizes of 4‑KB sectors, 32‑KB or 64‑KB blocks, or the full chip are also supported. An integrated status register allows monitoring of program and erase completion via the WIP bit, while advanced security features provide additional protection. When CS# is high, the device enters standby mode, and Macronix’s proprietary memory cell technology ensures reliable data retention through up to 100,000 program/erase cycles.
