Microchip Technology USB7016 USB Interface ICs are low-power, OEM configurable, USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub controller with 6 downstream ports. The USB7016 interface ICs are fully compliant with the Universal Serial Bus Revision 3.2 specification and USB 2.0 link power management addendum. These ICs are standard USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub supports native basic Type-C with integrated CC logic on downstream port 1. The USB7016 ICs enable OEMs to configure their system using configuration straps. Applications include Standalone USB hubs, laptop docks, PC motherboards, PC monitor docks, and multi-function USB 3.2 Gen 1 peripherals.

  • On-chip microcontroller:
    • Manages I/Os, VBUS, and other signals
  • 96kB RAM and 256kB ROM
  • 8kB One-Time-Programmable (OTP) ROM:
    • Includes on-chip charge pump
  • Configuration programming via OTP Memory, SPI external memory, or SMBus
  • USB-IF battery charger revision 1.2 support on downstream ports (DCP, CDP, and SDP)
  • FlexConnect:
    • The roles of the upstream and all downstream ports are reversible on command
  • USB bridging:
    • USB to I2C, SPI, I2S, and GPIO
  • Enhanced OEM configuration options available through either OTP or external SPI memory
