ROHM Semiconductor Nano Series Power Solutions

ROHM Semiconductor Nano Series Power Solutions consist of power-supply ICs designed to convert ultra-high-speed and ultra-low current technology. Nano Pulse Control™ applications convert high voltages to low voltages using a single integrated circuit to achieve simpler, more compact systems. Applications include Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices such as IP phones, wireless access points, and industrial equipment such as high-torque 48V motor systems. Nano Pulse Control ultra-high-speed technology enables a simplified power supply configuration in automotive lithium-ion 48V batteries, leading to a high step-down ratio (24:1) from a maximum voltage of 60V to 2.5V. This results in an ON time of 9ns, well below the 120ns of conventional products.

Nano Energy™ ultra-low current technology enables long-term drive in battery-equipped devices and decreases current consumption during ultra-light loads. The result is a current consumption of 180nA. These devices feature smaller components that can significantly reduce IC power consumption leading to optimal design flexibility along with space for integrating new features.

Features

  • Nano Pulse Control
    • Reduces switching ON time to 9ns providing stable control at extremely narrow pulse widths
    • Higher frequencies lead to reduced coil size, allowing users to simplify system design and reduce application size to decrease costs
  • Nano Energy
    • Decreases current consumption during ultra-light loads, leading to a current consumption of 180nA
    • Decreased consumption leads to longer battery life and stable operation at ultra-low current
