Infineon Technologies EVAL_3K3W_TP_PFC_CC CoolMOS™ CCM Totem Pole PFC
Infineon Technologies EVAL_3K3W_TP_PFC_CC CoolMOS™ CCM Totem Pole PFC is a complete reference design for a bridgeless totem pole power factor corrector (PFC) in continuous conduction mode (CCM). The reference design is enabled by CoolMOS superjunction power MOSFETs, isolated drivers, and an XMC™ Microcontroller.The EVAL_3K3W_TP_PFC_CC Totem Pole PFC implements Infineon Technologies 600V CoolMOS CFD7 MOSFETs and a pre-charge circuit to enable continuous hard-commutation in CCM operation. This pre-charge circuit significantly reduces the losses associated with Qoss and Qrr by providing these charges from an LV source.
The combination of CoolMOS CFD7 MOSFETs and the pre-charge circuit, together with the 600V CoolMOS S7 selected for the low-frequency half-bridge, enables high performance (efficiency close to 99%) with a desirable price-performance ratio. And, the use of SMD packages allows a compact form factor (92W/in3 power density) with proper thermal management. The bridgeless topology implements full digital control on the XMC1000 Microcontroller and does not require extra PWM signals for the pre-charge circuit.
